Deborah McCartney (BSc (Hons), Dip) is a Research Administrator in the Firefly Research Unit in the Occupational Therapy & Arts Therapies Division. She is also a member of the Centre for Applied Social Sciences.

Deborah McCartney is an Occupational Therapist Deborah has prior experience of working in the community within social services and with Scottish Autism, providing support to young adults with Autism living in the community. Deborah currently supports research activity at QMU across a range of activity.  Deborah is progressing an MSc in Occupational Therapy.

  • A Member of the College of Occupational Therapy

Research/Knowledge Exchange Centre Membership:

Deborah’s research work has focused on the Model of Human Occupation and ASD Diagnostic Services. Deborah’s research has included a range of research methods, including focus groups, case note analyses and action research.

Active Research Interests:

  • Deborah is supporting colleagues with Realist Synthesis, Meta-Analysis and Meta-Synthesis research.

Research Methods:

  • Focus groups, retrospective case note analyses, action research, meta-analysis. Administrative support to Randomized Control Trial and more recently research experience with a Realist Synthesis.
